Chess in Trafalgar Square
As part of London's Design Festival, one of the most ambitious installations, a giant chess set, was installed in the middle of Trafalgar Square. The pieces were hand made of pure porcelain in Italy and worth over £30,000. Each!
The pieces have internally mounted casters to allow them to be moved across the board in accordance with small pieces moved by the players who sit in the corners of the board.
